Sometimes conceiving can be a challenge. While there are numerous things you can do to help raise your chances of pregnancy, such as bettering your well-being and daily routines or trying an alternative therapy, such as aromatherapy, a natural aphrodisiac and natural cures, not everybody is successful. Experiencing sterility issues can be hard for any couple. The causes of infertility, though, can vary. In 30% of cases sterility is due to female factors. In another 30% of cases, infertility is due to the male. The remaining 40% of cases are triggered by a mix of male and female factors or by unidentified factors. A large number of couples that have difficulty conceiving naturally give preference to diverse fertility treatments to raise their chances of becoming pregnant. One of the most popular treatments used to raise fertility is Clomid. Also known as clomiphene citrate, the drug is available under the brand names Clomid and Serophene. Clomid induces a woman's ovaries to mature an increased number of follicles every month. Because Clomid increases the number of mature follicles in the ovaries, the medication also raises the likelihood of ovulation and conception. Clomid works by stimulating different nerve endings in the body that regulate hormone production and secretion. Particularly, Clomid works by increasing the amount of 3 hormones involved in the ovulation, such as: - gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) - luteinizing hormone (LH) - follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) Clomid makes the human body believe that it has lower levels of estrogen. As a result, the human brain begins to release increased levels of GnRH, which, in turn, causes the secretion of FSH and LH. These hormones then trigger the ovaries to start to mature more follicles. Clomid is generally prescribed for couples experiencing female infertility, including anovulation, PCOS, irregular menstrual periods. Clomid is taken orally on specific days of the menstrual cycle. Largely, Clomid adverse side effects are moderate and not very troublesome. Nevertheless, at higher doses patients may experience mood swings, nausea and vomiting, breast tenderness, headache, fatigue. In general, Clomid is a very efficacious medication for the majority of patients dealing with ovulatory disorder. In fact, 70% - 90% of females taking Clomid start to ovulate within the first three menstrual cycles. Additionally, 40% of couples get pregnant during the first 3 menstrual cycles.
